How do I stop my playlist from shuffling songs or control how they repeat?
Answer
The ability to stop songs from shuffling can be a bit hard to find. In the following example, we'll look at a playlist I have set up on my iPhone called "Recent albums"...which I use to listen to the latest CD's that I've bought.
So in this first image, my playlist from iTunes is visible. It's called "Recent albums" and I'm going to click on it....

Next, here is the start of that playlist, with somme songs from The Verve. If I click on the large "Shuffle" option, then all songs in this playlist will be played randomly. You might want to do that.....but in this example, we want the playlist to play through in the order the songs play on the CD, then on to the next album. So, to start, I'm going to click on the first song "Sit and Wonder"...

Below, the song is playing, but I appear to have no way of knowing what is going to happen next.....

The solution is simple...tap in the middle of the screen (where the album cover is) and more options appear. The icons that appear are as follows:
- Repeat playing (controls if a song or playlist repeats)
- Genius (use Genius playlists from iTunes if enabled)
- Shuffle (randomly plays songs)
You can see in the image below that the shuffle icon is blue. This isn't what is wanted.....

Simply tap the blue shuffle button and this turns shuffling off. The playlist will now play in list order....

Likewise, you can control the repeat process. In the image below, I have clicked the repeat button once. This means that the playlist will play right the way through and then repeat....

Tap it again and a '1' appears....meaning that this one song will repeat the moment it is finished....

Simply tap it again to turn the repeat process off.
The Genius button likewise can be used by taping, but requires that the Genius feature is enabled in iTunes.
If you don't want to see these extra controls, just click the middle of the screen (where the album cover is) to have them hide.
