TOPIC: blocking certain numbers

blocking certain numbers 1 year 11 months ago #2106

Hi I am needing a bit of help...

the easy answer is self control....

but.... I am lacking that :)

I want to know if there is a way I can set my iPhone so that it is not capable of txting or calling a specific number? It is an ex who I keep txting and phoning and it's badly happening when I sleep.... the txts tend to make sense which is the embarrassing part. It is part of my dreams/sleep walking/talking which is hightened with my anxiety issue since the break up. There is no point blacklisting him thru Vodafone as he is not the one contacting me. Likewise, changing my number wont fix it. Deleting his number doesn't work (tried! eek) since I know it off by heart...same number he's had for ten years.

I am not able to sleep without my phone under my pillow because I have a severely disabled and epileptic nephew who my my sis is a single mum to.... plus she is heavily pregnant and has a 1 yr old! So she needs to contact me often if he seizures badly... my mum also lives alone and has major heart problems (3 heart attacks since Sept quake) and my little brother has a huge amount of health issues which also lead to seizures and I am his official caregiver via. the hospital system since all other people who care for him day-to-day are so ill themselves. So I have to have it right there to take those emergency calls which happen so irregularly.

I have heard there are apps that could work? Do you guys have any wise ideas? I am really desperate and have google searched this forum in hopes you techno ppl may be able to give me a helping hand! Google searches bring up stuff about jailbroken phones and AMerican cell providers etc.... not relevent for me here in lil old quaketown nz!

Thanks so so much for any suggestions and sorry it is a little bit of an embarrassing "issue" haha

Wow... Quite a conundrum you've got there. Just got a few questions - Does he reply to your texts? If he does, that may be fueling your subconscious desire to keep texting him - but I'm no shrink ;)
I've done some looking for you, and to be honest, not many people have a situation like yours, so there aren't any obvious solutions. All I can think of for the time being would be to blacklist his number so he can't reply to you. If he stops replying, then maybe you'll stop texting. There could be some kind of kiddy lock type thing out there, but chances are, if you can send an entire message without being awake, I imagine you'll be able to get past a password that you know.

Does that help at all?
