First, I have to credit Kensington for superb support. I emailed them to ask which of their windscreen stands (minus a car charger since my cigarette lighter doesn't work) I should by when using a mophie Juice Air Pack. Not only did I get a response within 24 hours, but their system sends a follow email after 4 days to check that I got the original email and to set the issue to "solved". And an hour later, a short survey was sent through where I could rate the level of support I received. Well done Kensington!!

The decision to go with a Kensington car kit is now one I am superbly happy with for a number of reasons. Embarrassingly, it came about after waiting a staggering 3 months for my TomTom Car Kit to arrive at Dick Smith, only to realise that the cigarette lighter I had never used in my car was in fact disconnected...and that getting that working would cost a great deal of money.

But by this stage I was furious with TomTom. Three months was a ridiculous time to wait and $200 was a staggering amount to pay for a car kit. The fact that they didn't have the decency to include an audio cable in the box (when a company selling something a quarter of the cost did) just floored me. $200 and no audio cable...$45 and Kensington includes one. Well done Kensington again!

The other issues with the TomTom are that it requires you have bluetooth enabled and you can't use a phone in a case in their cradle. With the Kensington, you can use the phone with just about any case.....and if you wanted to buy a separate charging cable to go into a working cigarette lighter at some point, you can.

But let's not suggest this Kensington cradle is stunning....but it is very usable....and given that I am using in it conjunction with a mophie Juice Pack Air (see other review) it takes phones that are not only in a case, but in a case that adds depth to the phone. This is because the feet that the phone sit on can be easily adjusted and the sides of the stand spring out via a release button at the back. Sit the phone in the stand and then squeeze the two sides back into the phone until you get a firm grip...fantastic.

There is a bit of movement when you are driving, but I can't compare this to any other kit....certainly not enough movement to be concerned about. I'm very pleased with it and (most importantly I think) I know that I can expand its use by using the supplied audio cable to lead into a stereo, or buy a car charge and connect this to the phone (given that you can access the dock slot when the phone is in the cradle)...as well as the fact that I'll be able to continue to use this mount for other iPhones and heck...I suspect even other types of phones.

Very useful and 25% of the cost of the TomTom. I wish I had bought one sooner!
