About
Kiwis supporting Kiwis! - In a recent NZMac.com podcast, it was suggested that if New Zealand iPhone Developers* wanted some publicity for their apps, then they should get out there and promote themselves. Of course, it was easy of us to say that....so it's appropriate that if we make that suggestion, we provide Kiwi developers with the means to do just that.
From today, NZiPhone.com features a new, dedicated "Homegrown" section. This section of the site is dedicated to promoting the New Zealand iPhone Developers out there and their cool (and sometimes New Zealand focused) iPhone apps. But best of all, this feature is free to those Kiwi developers that we all admire so much!!

New Zealand iPhone Developers are entitled to:
- A free page detailing their company (not too much on the hard sell here please guys!...fact, not hyperbole). In other words, a company profile please....and iPhone/iPod Touch related (for example, if you're a University [Hello Otago!] the article will need to be about the team that developed the app as opposed to all the courses your University offers)
- A free page for each of your iPhone apps (OK, go for the hyperbole here!). This includes links to the application for sale on iTunes**
- One free graphic advert/banner to be shown on a banner rotate scheme in the Homegrown section:
Image supplied must be 180 x 150 jpeg (no animations sorry)- Image can be company related (i.e., company logo) or game related (app logo), but...
- URL for image will be to your main page of your website or to your listing of all apps on the iTunes Store
- Image can be changed approx every 3 months (please don't swamp me with revised versions)
- All application listings and reviews entered onto the site by users will now feature a question "New Zealand Developer?" that users can can tick if the application is developed by a Kiwi. These listings will then indicate they are built by a Kiwi developer and this link is clickable, producing a listing of all Kiwi apps listed on the site
- In the Homegrown section, below the banner advertisement, a special random listing of reviews of kiwi developed apps will be pulled from the existing reviews section

Well it's free as mentioned. There's no requirement to do this, but NZiPhone.com would appreciate in return, a prominent listing or link on your website to NZiPhone.com. A favour for a favour...kiwis supporting kiwis!
There's a graphic here you are welcome to use as part of that link.

Indefinitely at this stage. If this offer or site feature ever ends or changes, you will be notified.
Fortune Lounge Online
The first thing to do is make sure you are registered on the site. Then, you need to login and enter all the information. It's the same process that you see described here...the only difference is that you're not submitting a press release (by the way...you can do those at another time absolutely free) but information about your company and/or apps (one app per submission please).
I'll then be notified that you've submitted the information, check it and contact you to get some images off you. Once it is all in place, we publish the articles.

Yes, take your time. I suggest first submitting an article that is about your company. Let's get that sorted and published first. This will then go out to users signed up to the newsletter and will then be published on the site. Then, gradually over a couple of weeks...submit articles on each of your applications. The article will be published in your name. I'd really appreciate if you perhaps added some information into that article that no-one else knows...maybe some sneak rough images (of its development) or a discussion about the challenges in making the game? This will make your article stand out and be more interesting to NZiPhone.com users, who want to learn more about our Kiwi developers.
If you decide to submit all the information at once there is a chance that other news might knock your articles all off the main page together....so this is why I'm suggesting a staggered approach.

You could offer an ad-hoc version to a site user on condition they submit a review? If you'd like to do this, please use the contact form to get in touch.

Heck yeah! And I can keep secrets when it comes to iPhone apps...no, really! Just use the contact form to get in touch.

Kinda do already! In fact, there are a load of options on NZMac.com for Kiwi Mac developers...
- New Zealand Mac-related businesses are entitled to a FREE listing in NZMac.com's Mac Business Directory (sorry, iPhone developers must list on the Homegrown pages on this site), with FREE images of your business and (at cost) a company logo
- Provide a FREE review copy of one of your applications and there'll be TWO articles published...one calling for a site user to review the application (with details about the application) and the published review - Details here
- Like NZiPhone.com, you can login and submit Press Releases for FREE on NZMac.com - Details here
- The "Focus On.." feature provide a way for you to tell Mac users about your Mac-related business whilst supporting the site and its users....and there are a huge variety of options there!!
* A "New Zealand iPhone Developer" is one who publishes iPhone and iPod Touch apps from a company based in New Zealand or is New Zealander based overseas and publishes independently or in a company that is owned or mostly owned by New Zealanders. If you're not sure you fit that criteria, please get in touch.
