Apple has launched a new section on their website called "iPhone Your Life" that explores ways in which you can use your iPhone for travel, at home, for fun and games and more. The pages, available on the the main Apple.com website but not the New Zealand one at this point, highlight third party applications in each of the areas and the ways that they will help you with the activities you might carry out in each of these environments.

In early 2007, with the introduction of the iPhone, Steve Jobs stated that Apple hoped that when the iPhone ultimately launched, it would capture 1% of the market within 12 months. That amounted to 10 Million iPhone sales, which pundits at the time speculated was far too ambitious. In fact today, Apple announced they had reached that amount with two months to go.

UPDATE Apple today announced a number of new iPods, whilst at the same time confirming that a version 2.1 update will be released at the end of the week (the iPod Touch version is already out according to some). The update is said to focus on software improvements, with Steve Jobs stating that it fixes "a lot of bugs". At the same time he commented that the update will provide big improvements in battery performance as well as improving backup speed and reducing the number of dropped calls.

App Store downloads top 100 Million worldwide PDF Print E-mail

Apple today announced that iPhone and iPod touch users have downloaded more than 100 million applications from its groundbreaking new App Store since its launch on July 11, 2008. More than 3,000 applications are currently available on the App Store, with over 90 percent priced at less than $10 and more than 600 offered for free. Applications can take advantage of iPhone's large display, innovative Multi-Touch user interface, fast hardware-accelerated 3D graphics, built-in accelerometer and location-based technology to create mobile applications unlike any seen before.
