Apple releases Verizon firmware ahead of Verizon phone

Numerous sites are reporting that Apple have published a version of the iOS for the Verizon iPhone, ahead of the launch of the Verizon capable iPhone. Version 4.2.6 of the iOS is slightly advanced from the 4.2.5 version that was running at the Verizon press event. There is no suggestion that all iPhones will receive this update. Some speculate it is likely that 4.3 may be the next iOS release for all devices, however it places the iPhone in the unusual situation of having different iOS versions for very similar iPhone models.
