Apple have released a minor update for the iOS 4 which notably fixes an issue with how the display of signal strength is calculated and displayed. This follows on from a letter that Apple publicly posted on its website concerning this issue and ahead of a press conference that Apple has called for the next 24 hours. Speculation is that the press conference is to discuss the dropped calls issues with the iPhone 4 antenna.

The only listed fix in the iOS 4.0.1 update is "Improves the formula to determine how many bars of signal strength to display" and the update can be downloaded and installed via iTunes.

401 update

Amazingly confusing article from Mashable, as this really has nothing to do with reception issues, but a formula fix...

Better detail on the formula fix can be found in this article...
