It seems that the issues surrounding pre-orders of iPhone 4 have extended beyond the first day, when many frustrated people in the States failed to manage to order a phone or had huge technical issues. Now people are reporting random cancellations of their orders for no apparent reason, with others indicating that the iPhone is on its way to their door (Macrumors | Engadget). Let's hope when a date is announced for New Zealand, Apple will have sorted out the chaos!

As the TUAW put it..."There's good news and a little bit (just a little bit) of bad news." The good news first is that the iPhone version of Skype has been updated to allow for calls over 3G. The bad news....it appears to be free only until August and then a small fee will be charged by Skype. You can read more at TUAW and Engadget.com

The focus in the news and tech spheres on the iPad/Flash saga has been on the delivery of Flash video and alternatives to such an approach. Indeed, Apple's own website highlights sites that have taken time to use alternate approaches that do not require Flash. However, many are reminding Apple that Flash simply isn't about video and, love 'em or loath 'em (personally, I loath 'em) other areas such as advertising delivered by Flash is going to be affacted...both by the failure to display these adverts and the impact to income that may hit websites whose clients demand the right to deliver such ads.
You can read more about these subjects at Apple Insider (Publishers criticize Apple's anti-Flash stance), MacNN (Publishers react to Steve Jobs' opposition to Flash) and an interesting article at MacWorld about what those with "Non iPad-Ready sites" might be able to do (Flash solutions for non-"iPad-Ready" sites).
