Ever wondered why there's not an amazing helicopter game that utilizes the gyro of the iPhone 4 immaculately? Yes? Well wonder no more. Chopper 2 is not only an absolute blast, it's beautiful to look at, and the controls are perfect. I've played games that use the motion sensors of the iPhone before, but a fair few seem to fall flat. You know what I mean, you sit there super frustrated because the gyro controls just ain't working like they should. None of that with this. Take off is as simple as leaning the phone backwards. Forward and backward movement is a simple lean to either side. While there is a minor learning curve to it, I'm sure the average person will be able to pick it up within a few minutes. Once you're in the air, it's fairly straightforward what you need to do. The earlier missions will have you picking up stranded tourists, but within minutes you'll be blasting tanks with rockets, dodging lock-on missiles, and mowing through foot soldiers. At your disposal is the standard infinite-ammo machine gun, bombs, and rockets. You can fill these up simply by landing on a landing pad, which also conveniently fills your health up

Addicting isn't really the right word. While not laced with the same "YES! High score!" kind of gameplay that makes games like Doodle Jump popular, it still has you coming back for more. The missions are short enough to be completable, hard enough to take you more than one go, and long enough to feel satisfying. But don't get the idea that this game is a pushover. You'll find yourselves more than once stuck on a level trying to work out how you can destroy all 10 tanks without getting hit by their lock-ons.

But It's not just about blasting your way through enemies. Saving civilians from oncoming tanks, escorting army convoys, and destroying hangars all feature to break up the regular gameplay. Not that it really needs much breaking up though; I find blasting tanks enough, but that's just me.

While it comes with it's own music, it's basically just one track on loop. No problem though; this is one of those great games that lets you play your own tunes over the top. Too many games don't have that feature, and it's something that's refreshing to see here.

For those of you who own an iPad and iPhone, you have the option of using your iPhone as a remote while you play on the larger screen. I haven't been able to try this out myself, I'm (unfortunately) not the owner of an iPad, but I have heard good things about it. Apparently there's also a feature that allows you to play on the TV, although I haven't been able to try that either. Feel free to post a comment about how decent those modes are.

So, overall... No point in beating round the bush really. It's a blimmin' good time, the controls are tight, the graphics are crisp, and it'll keep you coming back for more. It's a pretty obvious conclusion, to be honest. I'd give it an 9/10, the only downside being the repetitive soundtrack. Yeah, it's got a slightly higher-than-normal price at $4.19, but it's worth it. Trust me. You won't regret it.
