What you need to know about the iPad 2
- Available March 25th for NZ
- It's thinner, faster and lighter than the original iPad.
- Screen resolution is the same
- The new front camera is the same one as on the iPhone 4
- The rear camera on the iPad 2 is the same as the 4G iPod Touch, which isn't as good as the iPhone 4 (at 5MP).
- Nevertheless the rear camera is still good enough for HD video, and photos up to 1280x720
- FaceTime is still
limited to WIFI only - bugger!- RAM capacity is not published by Apple, but probably 512MB
- The iPad 2 uses a new dual-core processor called the A5 (up to 2x faster but at same clock rate)
- Graphics are up to 9x faster
- Power consumption is unchanged (approx 10 hours)
- The enclosure is mostly flat, and only 8.8mm thick compared to the previous 13.4mm
- The microphone has been moved to the top of the back plate
- The speaker is unchanged
- Will be available in both black and white colours!
- The case has hidden magnets built in specifically for the new Smart Cover
