CheckWord is a simply, free, easy to use application for iPhone and iPod Touch. It's not a dictionary, it's not a spell-checker... CheckWord simply checks if a word is good or bad in games like Scrabbe. It's quicker than using a dictionary, and easier than using a computer. Ideal for both casual and tournament use. CheckWord can use the latest official TWL or SOWPODS word lists. Really fast instant results... just tap in the word and hit the search button. There's also no need for internet, so you can use it anywhere you are.
UPDATE: New with the 1.1 update comes a new feature of word generation. Just enter the letters from your scrabble rack, and (optionally) some letters to fit them to, and you'll instantly get a list of all the possible words you can make. The word generator uses powerful patterns to let you instantly create anagrams, create word lists, and solve crossword puzzles. This update also gives you the ability to check multiple words at once according to the Scrabble tournament rules, removing the need for an independent adjudicator.

Every time I play scrabble, there's bound to be an argument about whether some really strange word is actually a word or not. Well, this app should solve that problem for me luckily! If you want to know if 'erg', for instance is a word, just type it in, and it'll tell you that ERG is GOOD. Yay, I'll remember that word for my next game of scrabble now.
It would be nice though if it could explain what TWL and SOWPODS are though. I beleive SOWPODS is used here in NZ though after a quick google search. Not 100% on that one though.
Anyway, this apps free, and well worth having if you ever play Scrabble or other word games.
UPDATE: This update is really great! Gives you a new really cleaver feature (kind of cheating though if you use it!) where you enter in a bunch of letters, using '.' for blanks and '@' for unknown letters, and CheckWord finds you all the possible words that can be created. Also useful for those fun Word Builders in some papers.
